Music and sounds. Open Menu, then Settings, to
turn the sounds off or on, play music while you play — ours,
or your own songs from this computer — and swap any of the
game's sounds for one of your own.
Tap a tile, then tap another one with the same picture on it, and
both disappear. Clear the whole board and you have won.
Which tiles can be taken
A tile can only go if BOTH of these are true:
- Nothing is resting on top of it.
-
Its left side or its right side is clear — it does not have
to be both, but a tile wedged between two others cannot move
however exposed it looks.
That second one catches everybody. The board shows you: any tile that
cannot move yet is faded. If you tap one anyway it flashes red
rather than doing nothing, so you are never left wondering whether the
game heard you.
You can turn the fading off with Fade the tiles that cannot
move, in Settings (in Menu), once you would rather work it out
yourself.
There are no special cases
Two tiles go together when they have the same picture on
them. That is the only matching rule, and there is nothing else to
learn — no tile on this board goes with a tile that looks
different from it.
The flower and season tiles carry their name along the bottom
— PLUM, MUM, SPRING, WINTER — so if the word is the
same, they match.
You cannot be dealt a board that is impossible
Every board is built so that there is a way to clear it. But you can
still paint yourself into a corner by taking the wrong pair —
two of the four dragons, say, when the other two are stacked on top
of each other.
So there is always a way out. Undo goes back as far as you
like, and Shuffle rearranges the tiles still on the table
into a board that can be finished. If you ever do run out
of moves, the game offers you both rather than waiting for you to
notice.
Playing the same board again
Every board has a number, in Settings (in Menu). Write a good one
down, or read it out to somebody else, and typing it in deals exactly
the same board. New game, in Menu, chooses a different shape.
