Nothing in The Kingdoms of Perry knows
where its pictures come from. It asks for them by name, and
one table decides whether the answer is a placeholder drawn in code
or a file you made.
To put your own artwork in, save the file under
public/images/games/kingdoms/ and add one line to
public/js/games/kingdoms/data/artwork.js. The line to
paste is written out on every card below. No other file changes
— not the engine, not the map view, not the page.
A name you do not supply keeps its placeholder, so you can replace
one picture or all of them, in any order, and the game stays
playable the whole time.
A name you supply whose file is missing also keeps its
placeholder, and says so in the console. A typo costs you a
picture, not a working game.
Give a list of files instead of one and the game picks
between them across the map, seeded off the tile so a given tile
always looks the same. Ground without variants reads as wallpaper
from about ten tiles out — two or three of each is worth the
trouble.
Anything taller than one tile stands on the bottom edge of
its square, so the extra height leans up over whatever is behind
it. Draw with transparency and put the feet at the bottom.
Nothing here is coloured for a side. There is one knight and one
castle, and the game draws the owner’s flag on top. Do not
paint them red or blue.
