PCS Remote Control (IT Version)

Remote IT support, built by people who do it.

Remote support software from a working computer shop, for anybody who looks after other people’s computers — a one-person repair shop, a school’s IT person, or the family “computer person”. It is already in use on our own customers’ machines every day.

Here are some of the things it does

And more added as time goes on. Every one of these came from a real support call that went sideways with somebody else’s software.

  • Unattended access

Install it once on a machine you look after and connect whenever you need to — nobody has to read you a code over the phone.

  • A real file manager

Two panes, your computer and theirs. Send files either way, queue up several jobs, pause and resume.

  • Transfers that keep going

A file that cannot be read is marked in red and the rest carry on. No dialog box stopping everything at file 3 of 4,000.

  • One clipboard

Copy text on your machine, paste it on theirs — and the other way round. It just works.

  • No pop-ups for the person you help

Their screen is never hijacked by progress windows. A quiet tray icon shows what is happening, and only the side that started a transfer can cancel it — no accidental clicks.

  • Status at a glance

Every status has a colour and a shape, so you can tell from across the room — and so can colour-blind techs.

  • Several machines at once

Open more than one session side by side, each in its own window — how many depends on your plan. Sessions nobody is using hang up by themselves.

  • History that survives a rebuild

Reinstalled a customer’s Windows? Move the machine’s history over to the fresh install, so nothing is lost.

On the way: session time sent straight onto the invoice in PCS Accounting, faster direct connections, pixel-perfect screenshots, and a warning at install time that protects your customers from fake “tech support” scammers.

Encryption and security

Your customers trust you with their computers, so here is what is protecting them. Only standard, well-tested encryption is used; nothing is home-made.

  • Encrypted end to end

Every session is encrypted from your computer to theirs with AES-256-GCM, using fresh keys for each session (ECDH key exchange with HKDF-SHA256). When a session goes through our servers, they only pass along encrypted data and do not hold the keys.

  • Both sides prove who they are

Each computer has its own identity key (ECDSA P-256), made on that computer and impossible to copy off it. Before anything is sent, both computers prove who they are. If either check fails, the session does not start.

  • Tamper-proof from start to finish

Every piece of a session carries a check. If even one bit is changed along the way, the session ends instead of carrying on with altered data.

  • Direct or relayed, the same protection

A direct connection between the two computers gets the same identity checks and the same encryption as a relayed one.

  • Only talks to our servers

Connections to our servers use TLS 1.2 or 1.3, locked to our server's own key. The program refuses an impostor server, even one with an otherwise valid certificate.

  • Passwords are never stored as typed

An unattended-access password is kept only as a salted PBKDF2-SHA256 hash, with 100,000 rounds. The password itself is never saved or logged.

  • Signed updates only

Our programs are digitally signed by Perry Computer Services. An update is installed only if every program file in it carries our signature; if one file fails the check, none of the update is installed.

  • The person you help stays in charge

From the tray icon, the person at the other computer can turn file transfers off. That stops files going both ways.

How it works

  1. Pick a plan. Every plan has the full program; the plans differ in how many machines you keep, how much relayed data you get and which extras come with it.
  2. Install PCS Remote Control on your computer and sign in.
  3. The person you are helping runs PCS Remote — free, no account, no sign-up — and reads you the ID it shows. Or install it once, unattended, on the machines you look after, and connect whenever you need to.

Proudly Canadian. Designed and built in-house in Ontario by Perry Computer Services — helping people with their computers since 1997. Built by Canadians, for Canadians and the world.

Questions

Does the person I help have to pay, or sign up?

No. PCS Remote is free for the computer being helped, with no account and nothing to sign. Only your side is on a plan.

What does it run on?

Windows 8 and up, on both your side and the computer being helped. More devices are on the way in 2026 and 2027.

Who is it for?

IT support people, computer repair shops and anybody who looks after other people’s computers — the family “computer person” included.

What is “relayed data”, and what if I run out?

Most sessions connect straight from your computer to theirs and use none of it. When a direct link cannot be made, the session is relayed through our servers, and that is what a plan’s monthly allowance counts. Unused data carries over to busy months, and top-ups that never expire are there for the odd heavy one. The plans page has the details.

Good to know: the computer being helped needs a screen plugged in — one with no monitor attached may have no picture to show, which a small HDMI “dummy plug” fixes. And Microsoft Surface Pro tablets (and some other tablets and laptops) go into a deeper sleep once their screen turns off, and PCS Remote Control cannot switch the screen back on. Set the screen never to turn off while plugged in, or restart the computer remotely.

Pick your plan

Monthly or yearly, and you can move up or down later.
